Easy to get to crude oil is pretty much a thing of the past. Today’s wells are deeper, harder to access and require the use of new technologies such as directional drilling or hydraulic fracturing to effectively produce oil and gas. Hundreds of thousands of water gallons are sometimes hauled in to fracture a well. In many instances, this water can be treated and reused.
With the rise of crude prices, many abandoned “non-producing” wells are also being brought back on-line. A lot of these wells were previously abandoned mainly for economical reasons than for lack of crude. In many instances, separating the crude from the produced water is best done onsite.
Hydrasep®, in conjunction with RMOTC, has performed tests on an ESP well with ~3% oil cut, delivering 98% separation efficiency and pipeline ready crude (0.25% BS&W.)
